Firefox 2 released

While its not official till tomorrow Firefox 2.0 has been released (random blog|official site|official news), while perhaps not the spectacular upgrade everyone was hoping for its easily a match for IE7 more about that in another post, and is along with opera and safari back in the standards compliant camp after a brief walk in the park. Not many outstanding new features though microsummaries are almost certain to catch on.

Its nice to see XML and XSLT being used though I’m not yet convinced the average Firefox user could create a summary I’m sure most web developers will be adding summaries to their sites in the next few weeks, lets hope wordpress.com do, as there is already a WordPress plugin.

UPDATE: Darling wordpress seemed to forget this post, so its out of date but never mind firefox 2.0 has been released woot

    Help me please…
I just installed Firefox 2.0, and all of a sudden, my username/password isn't being inserted in the signon window (it always was before). I tried the usual suspects–I did not mistakenly tell FF not to remember the password for this site; and I also tried the remember password bookmarklet, but all to no avail–FF will not ask me to remember this password. What do I need to do to get around this?

Hi Davis, not sure if I can help much but you can try the following, if you go to tools->options and then security you have the options to view saved passwords check its not already there if it is remove it, place in your login details and tick yes to do you want to store it. If its not there try un-ticking the remember my passwords also clear all cookies restart Firefox and then reselect remember my password.

Hope this helps, p.s before doing the above you may wish to remove any password storing extensions as I’m not sure how they will deal with the system.
Welcome to the site by the way

Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having the same problems with FF2.0 not recalling passwords, and it is causing me serious headaches. I hate to revert to 1.x tree, as 2.0 is so much better other than this problem.
