The second beta release of Drupal 5.0 has been released this is primary a bug fix with over 160 additional patches, but no feature differences you can read about this release here.

Upgrading from Beta 1 to Beta 2 was a very simple experience just copy and paste, then run update.php a single db change was made. It would be nice if Drupal offered to automate the backup process during these upgrades but its a minor quibble and barring the lack of module support (which will come) Drupal 5.0 is looking and working great.

I think its time for change in strategy, timnash.me.uk is in the sandpit see yesterdays post, life sucks the new Drupal version will help me add content but this won’t get me out of the sand box and based on reading around the web nothing will. so its time for plan B.

Old news for many I’m sure but I just came across this very handy tool from Microsoft, yes I know it surprised me to, I’m sure its full of bugs so don’t worry..

One of Windows more annoying facilities is its lack of mount options, anyone who has used Linux will know what I mean. This tool mounts ISO among other things as if they were CD’s I know revolutionary! but useful none the less. In a previous post I explained how to set-up a simple search using Google Ajax and Custom Search engine it wasn’t pretty but was simple well several weeks later we have started to implement a more complete solution on the Venture Skills main web site. To see it in action click here

The search box searches our custom search engine which includes this site, our main site and others that are part of Venture Skills network you can see this engine here but its not very pretty either. So what have been the changes and challenges

I have been using Firefox 2.0 for a little while now and thought I would do a quick update on how its going, you can see my first impressions here. The biggest difference is I seem to be using more extensions and I don’t really know why? My Firefox install were already pretty “pimped” up but I seem to have gone overboard with all the extras. A couple of things really stick out these include the dictionary function which is fantastic! though I seemed to have some how lost the check by default it was easy to get back I also changed it to check every field not just multi line fields by
