Have you noticed when all your friends stumble your post it seems like they have little or no effect? Well it appears that Stumbleupon Algorithm treats artificial stumbles differently by artificial I mean stumbles that don’t have the Toolbar as their referrer. The solution is to use the “send to” option to your friends, they will then arrive via the toolbar and when they thumb up the site it will appear as an organic stumble with all its juice…
Not sure what I’m talking about check out this short video to assist you!
Be careful when you use this technique I for one do not like my stumbling disturbed by random people, and while you can only contact your friends through this, it might be worth checking they are actually your friends first!
However if you were perhaps emailing your friends asking for a stumble try this technique instead.

One of my posts were Stumbled yesterday and it was actually great. I only received about 190 unique visitors from it with 400 pageviews. The average time the Stumbler spent on the post that was Stumbled was 2 minutes! It wasn’t like they just arrived at my page and left…they actually spend some quality time reading the post

Yeah I was talking about this with someone a few onths ago when I first heard about Subvert and Profit going after the stumble crowd.
It would be way too easy to spam the system if they didnt have this in place and it makes sense to limit the ‘juice’ to the sites that were actually stumbled and then thumbs upped.
I used to do a lot of advertising on Stumble becasue you can really isolate your demographic and found that the thumbs up from that did nothing in terms of traffic. The rate to pay for stumblers is 5 cents per click and I was able to obtain a small rate of return but i am no longer advertising there for whatever reason.
Thats a cool tip about the friends and the send to. I have some sites I would like stumbled but I am not going to ask my friends to participate in that kind of crap.

@Hornswaggled Stumble algorithm seems to cope well with most gaming, that said I certainly been finding a lot more spam in my stumbles recently, and a hell of a lot of duplicate spam, same site different domain.
@Anuj We did a pretty detail analysis of what areas of a site stumblers and Diggers interact with during the Digg effect you might find interesting
