Something to think about for a moment;
If you truly are a superstar in the Web2.0 scene you need groupies and copy cats, Mybloglog has groupies but not that many copy cats (excluding BlogCatalog but I wouldn’t call them copy cats).
The Mybloglog principle is simple at its heart is a basic tacking and profiling system but where are the scripts? If you want to build a Digg clone you are spoiled for choice for a voting system from Pligg to our Drupal Hack through a dozen others, Social Bookmarking no problem literally hundreds of scripts out there to chose from.
But if you want to create a MyBlogLog clone absoultely nothing! Not sure what this says in many ways the number of clones is an indication of how popular an idea is, so looking at the lack of clones should we conclude that MyBlogLog is on a losing streak?
Which brings me onto a separate subject Yahoo where is that API?

I never thought of this. There has to be a clone, i have a good collection of clone scripts from craigslist to facebook, you have just sent me on a new quest with this post to find a mybloglog clone..

Good Luck
it dawned on me I hadn’t seen one a while ago and I did a fairly deep hunt for an equivalent but couldn’t find anything.

So after my initial search i have found an offshore company who claims to have a working copy they are willing to sell. So I would bet the market will be flooded soon with a bunch of them. It does seem to be a hot request on the rent a coder sites – people are actively looking for it. Where there is a demand there will be a supply.
The recent clone script that I found & I am very much enjoying messing with, is a FaceBook clone script. It has everything that facebook has minus the Ad stuff.

Thanks for the update Michael its interesting as you say where their is demand you expect supply but I think their has been a demand for a while now still no supply.
Maybe it will happen someday.

This is the same scenario with Craigslist clones. There was alot of people looking for clones of Craigslist for awhile so alot of offshore programmers were making them as needed and keeping it exclusive to the clients. As time went on a few firms actually started to sell just straight clones for download. I expect the same to happen with this situation.
Also, i would bet the backend of mybloglog is not as simple as a php/mysql site. So this could be the other delay.
I actually spoke to soon…

Afraid that particular site has been around for a while and indeed was partly the inspiration for this post.

I am trying to see if they have released the source anywhere.
Just want to have a copy for myself, never would use it most likely. I just enjoy having it.
Goes back to my days of collecting Dos Based BBS Software back in the early 90’s.

i read digg, reddit & yahoo buzz ect. but i will only install one mybloglog like widget on my blog. a mybloglog clone has to have a large userbase right from the beginning to compete with mybloglog and that’s kind of hard. in germany we have sixgroups.com, a ning / mybloglog mashup. but i think google friend connect could replace mybloglog in the future, it should be possible for open sociel developers to change the members gadget into a mybloglog like widget.
