My attempt at showing a working model for stumbleupon mathematics certainly got (is getting) a lot of attention with several questions being asked I thought I would at least try to answer some of them and pass some more generic comments.

Stumbleupon mathematics for stumblers

What follows is my understanding of the stumbleupon algorithm it is based on some pretty extensive testing using several volunteers however it has been incredibly simplified to make it easier to understand. We may be totally wrong so just a heads up but I hope this will at least give you some idea of what your thumb up is doing. It was inevitable that stumble spam was going to happen, but the amount I have recently received is bordering on the ridiculous the reason for my sudden increase I think is two fold I went past my 1000 up thumb and I also went through the 150 fan/friend mark.

Organic Stumbling Tip

Have you noticed when all your friends stumble your post it seems like they have little or no effect? Well it appears that Stumbleupon Algorithm treats artificial stumbles differently by artificial I mean stumbles that don’t have the Toolbar as their referrer. The solution is to use the “send to” option to your friends, they will then arrive via the toolbar and when they thumb up the site it will appear as an organic stumble with all its juice…
